
TV review: Scott & Bailey’s underlying themes showed why it’s such an understated pleasure
Things got off to a peculiar start in the return of Scott & Bailey (ITV). It was as if the cast, confronted with a grisly story that involved, among other things, a dog eating an old woman’s throat, had decided the only way of getting out of there alive was to play it for the darkest of laughs. The effect was oddly unsettling – and effective.
